What is Beacon Health?
Beacon Health was formed as a result of the consolidation of NEIGHBORING and PATHWAYS. We are a private, non-profit, community-based outpatient organization which is dedicated to empowering adults with mental illness and substance use disorders to live, learn, work and participate fully in family and community.
We provide a variety of Services and Programs to achieve this goal. We have been providing services since 1969.
Persons that do not have Medicaid coverage and would like to access our sliding scale fee (in which the service fee charged to the patient is based on a person’s income level) must be a Lake County resident. Only Lake County residents are eligible for the subsidy funds provided by the Lake ADAMHS Board funds.
Do I have to live in Lake County to receive Beacon Health services?
Consumers that have Medicaid coverage can receive treatment from Beacon Health. Consumers that do not have Medicaid coverage can receive treatment, but must be a Lake County resident.
Can anyone receive services at Beacon Health?
Beacon Health serves adults age 18 and over who are trying to cope with the challenges of a mental illness. Specifically, Beacon Health is here to provide quality mental health and dual diagnosis services to Lake County residents. Many of our clients have a limited income and/or no health insurance. We serve clients who have health care coverage from Medicaid or Medicare, or have private health insurance. Beacon Health does accept self payment from patients.
Beacon Health is not certified to provide behavioral health services to anyone under the age of 18 years. We can help facilitate referrals to other providers.
How is Beacon Health compensated for services? Who are the major providers of funds?
What fees does Beacon Health charge?
All Lake County residents are eligible for our sliding fee scale in which the fees that are charged are based on the level of an individual’s income. At the time an individual has their initial intake at our agency, he or she will meet with an Intake Specialist who will review the applicant’s financial information and determine the level of payment, if any, that the client would be responsible for themselves.
Can I just walk in to receive services?
Refer to Walk-In Services. Walk-in services are welcome Monday-Friday.

“Speak up! It will do your self-confidence wonders.”
If you’re in a meeting at work or at a family gathering don’t be afraid to share your thoughts, opinions, and ideas. They’re just as important as the thoughts, opinions and ideas of the others in the room.
When you don’t share your thoughts because you fear how they will be received and the reaction they may trigger, you slowly chip away at your self-confidence.
If the thought of speaking up makes your whole body tense, then start with smaller one-on-one conversations. This is perfect practice for the important occasions that will surely follow.
