By submitting your idea to the Rite Aid Innovation Challenge, your bright idea has the opportunity to be brought to life and impact the lives of patients around the world.

Q: How much does it cost to submit an idea to Edison Nation Medical?

Creating an account with Edison Nation Medical is free and each Inventor pays only $25 to submit his or her idea for evaluation (this is all an Inventor will ever need to pay us!) If we agree your idea has strong market potential, Edison Nation Medical or Rite Aid will invest 100% of any additional resources necessary to develop, prototype, patent, and conduct any legal negotiations necessary to bring your idea to life. As the Inventor, you will never be asked to pay for any of these services.

Q: Do Rite Aid or Edison Nation Medical own my idea after I submit it?

No, you will always be credited as the inventor of your idea in all legal documents and in any marketing. Our requirements for assigning the intellectual property of your idea to Edison Nation Medical vary depending on whether you are an individual inventor, a technology transfer office, or a small business. To learn more about these requirements, please visit our FAQs on this topic.

Q: I have an idea but it’s not related to health or wellness. Should I still submit it?

Absolutely! Rite Aid is interested in hearing any and all innovation ideas that will benefit their consumers. Our sister company, Edison Nation, has been successfully commercializing non-healthcare product innovations for almost 10 years and so their team is ready to step in and help evaluate and potentially commercialize any non-healthcare product submissions received through the Rite Aid Innovation Challenge. In those situations, we will follow up with you directly regarding next steps, as the processes may differ slightly.

Q: Are there any submission requirements?

Rite Aid and Edison Nation Medical encourage the submission of inventions involving products, devices, technologies or apps that can be utilized by consumers, patients, caregivers, clinicians, or pharmacists. Submissions are welcomed from the general public worldwide including consumers, innovators, designers, entrepreneurs, students and its own pharmacists and employees. Entrants can submit their ideas confidentially and securely through March 31, 2015.

Ideas ranging from back-of-the-envelope sketches to fully patented and prototyped products are welcome. You will be kept apprised of the status of your idea through the entire process and will share in the financial rewards if your idea is selected.

Edison Nation Medical will share all licensing royalties and revenues with successful inventor(s).  Please refer to the Edison Nation Medical Inventor Agreement for full details.

Q: How many winners will Rite Aid and Edison Nation Medical select?

This is not a contest and there are no “winners”; rather, the end goal of the Rite Aid Innovation Challenge is for Rite Aid to commercialize each qualified invention on behalf of the entrant and sell the selected product(s) to its consumers via its website and on the shelves of Rite Aid stores nationwide.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of ideas I can submit?

No, there is no limit. You may submit as many ideas as you’d like. Likewise, there is no limit to the number of ideas Rite Aid may choose to pursue for licensing and development. If you submit ten ideas and we agree that all ten are brilliant, we will work diligently to successfully commercialize all of them.
